The giant match at the World Cup final

Is an innovative project that has brought together French and South African artists to create a drama that is being staged in various public places and communities in South Africa. The story, a South African take on Romeo and Juliet, is the story of two lovers separated by a family feud who find reconciliation through a football match. Creative genius is used here as the puppets participate in the amusing football match bringing a bit of humor into the drama.

This project brings together, sport, recreation, arts and culture in a creative way while generating revenues for those involved. Artists have creatively taken rubbish and recycled it to make giant puppets, masks and objects. Not only has this drama been useful in transferring artistic skills, it has also provided an opportunity for people to learn about recycling of goods. This drama will be performed at the World Cup final, a platform for these artists to showcase their talent. I am sure the drama will be entertaining.

This is a great initiative that has seen the development of many artists, generated income for many families while entertaining the many tourists in South Africa at the moment. Who knows, maybe this drama will travel the world, as many other South African productions have done.
