Luke Steyn, Zimbabwe’s first winter Olympian

Zimbabwe is making its debut at Sochi, represented by Luke Steyn, who will be competing in alpine skiing. Zimbabwe, a country in Africa that has never seen snow, is an unlikely competitor on the snow. It takes me back to the time Kirsty Coventry won a broke a world record at the olympics, and the commentator was shocked, gasping, “Zimbabwe in the swimming pool!!”If that was shocking, Zimbabwe on the slopes should shock the daylights out people. Zimbabwe is not the only country making a debut, there are seven countries making a debut, Malta, Togo, Paraguay, East Timor, Dominica and Tonga.
