Presidential Scholarships

The Executive Director of Presidential Scholarships invites applications for the Presidential Scholarship for study in South Africa. The scholarships target able but disadvantaged students from rural schools in remote districts.

If you ever wondered how people get the Presidential Scholarships this us how. If you know someone, a distant relative, a friends friend who is eligible here is the information. The deadline is tight, but it is worth a try. You can always try next year as they are given annually. Unfortunately this is all the information I have, I just found it posted at the Ministry of Education so I don’t know anything about the process. I don’t know anyone who has received a scholarship so I don’t have any tips or hints. So this information comes with a disclaimer, all I know is what is written below. Please pass it on to any A level students or O level students.

Hello everyone. 2011 scholarships have now been awarded. The names have not been made official, or at least I do not know the beneficiaries. I suppose the deadline for the 2012 scholarships will be around May and the requirements should be similar, my assumption. But beware, to assume makes an ass out of me… All the best for 2012 scholarships.Check out scholarship resources

What about if I want a scholarship that is based in Zimbabwe e.g at Mlezu college of agriculyture or Zou

    • November 3, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I am not so sure about scholarships for those institutions. It might be a good idea to find out from the institutions themselves. I know that Econet gives scholarships in Zimbabwe. Check out Capernaum Trust, http://www.capernaumtrust.org.zw/ for details.

Hello Lebogang. I am sure how it works is that the scholarship board will inform winners. When I’m in Zimbabwe next, I will go and enquire. Uni starts in January so I assume so it is about time they informed the recepients of the scholarships. Thank you. We’ll keep on doing our best. All the best with the scholarship.

I’m also in the same boat as Vincent, currently registered for November exmas,so my questions are, 1)is it too late? 2)which academic certificates do we apply with since we haven’t yet written our A levels? 3)do u need to apply to the university of your choice and get accepted prior to applying to the presidential scholarship? I know you’re also limited on information, but I’m so confused and really need to know

      • September 14, 2012 at 9:58 am

From the looks at it, we may be looking at 2013 scholarships, which means you are not too late. It would be wise to put in your applications for university because they will use your mid year results. Dont put all your eggs in one basket. There are other ways of financing university and you can also try Unisa which is cheaper than full time studying and you can work while you studying getting valuable experience at the same time. Hope this helps.

hi It seems like the people responsible rarely advertise. One source informed me that they dont have funds. what surprises me the most is unongozonzwa kwava kunzi president varikuaddressa the students leaving for SA. i wish the scholarship is made public and all deserving candidates vamawane. there are a lot of kids out there kuma rural and remote places vane ma 15 points. if i get the infor, i have made it my mission to contact people i knw vanoma dersever!

      • February 19, 2013 at 10:33 am

Please also let us know when you get the information. We do not need any scarcity thinking, being selfish doesn’t give you a better chance of getting the scholarship. Maybe the good turn you do for someone else informing them of the scholarship will be returned back to you another way.

Thank you for such an informative and interactive site.Im a parent of a daughter who obtained 12 points at A level and has been accepted at Rhodes University.Unfortunatley we could not raise funds for her to start 2014, We have asked them to hold onto the place for 2015 and they have agreed. I am frantically trying to get a scholarship or funding for my daughter before then.I would appreciate any advice, assistance and /or direction. As to the rest of the people struggling to get funding to pursue their studies i Pray that God hears our prayer and provides the funding we so require.Remain strong dont give up. I believe and have hope.Goodluck
